About the speaker:

David R. Martinez holds three U.S. patents and received the Ingeniero Eminente (Eminent Engineer) Award from New Mexico State University in May 2008. He was instrumental in developing a large prototype space-time adaptive signal processor for the Laboratory. Dave recently co-authored a book titled, High Performance Embedded Computing: A Systems Perspective. Dave has served on the Army Science Board for five years. He has been with Lincoln Laboratory since 1988 and is the head of the Intelligence Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Systems and Technology Division at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. He has management responsibility for the division’s programs in the development of advanced technique and prototypes for surface surveillance, laser systems, active and passive adaptive array processing, integrated sensing and decision support, undersea warfare and embedded hardware and software computing. Martinez earned a bachelor’s degree electrical engineering from NMSU in 1976, a master’s degree from MIT and an electrical engineering degree jointly from MIT and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in 1979. He also received an MBA from the Southern Methodist University in 1986.

Tour #1: Microelectronics Laboratory (MEL) - This state-of-the-art lab for microelectronics for the research and fabrication of these components and it features Class-10 cleanrooms.

Tour #2: FAA Air Traffic Control Simulation Room - This lab features equipment that can track and identify real air traffic by viewing a network of radars, cameras, and other databases. Live monitoring for operation of the Runway Status Lights System at Dallas / Ft. Worth airport is possible, a system that Lincoln Laboratory developed to prevent runway incursion accidents.
